The breeding process of Pangasius begins with selecting older fish; the older fish usually can ensure the offspring. We choose the healthiest and strongest fish.
The grown Pangasius are adults that are 3 years old or more. The males weigh between 2,5 and 3,5 kilo’s and the females weigh about 3 to 5 kilo’s . An ideal weight to spawn and milt.
The selected male and female fish’ are transferred to separate basins.
The female fish is stimulated to spawn (eggs) and the male is stimulated to release the sperm. This process starts the day before spawning. They are injected with hormones to stimulate the release. The fish are carefully and gently stimulated. The eggs are collected in a dry glass bowl.
The sperm and eggs are mixed for proper fertilization. This process must be done very carefully. Approximately 70 to 80% of the fertilized eggs gets to the larva state
In about two weeks, the Pangasius fry are ready and old enough to be sold or to grow out.
