The Pangasius has shown an important expansion of cultivation, the global export has grown tremendous in the last 8 years. The Pangasius is competing with other white fish like the Tilapia. The biggest commercial production occurs in Asia at this moment, especially Vietnam.
Over the past 10 years, the Pangasius has become a recognized global product in the aquaculture. Vietnam produces more Pangasius then Norway and Chile produce Salmon, or then China produces Tilapia. In 2014, Vietnam exported US$1.77 billion of pangasius products, up 0.4 percent from the same period of 2013.
